Toward the Light

This was painted at our beautiful Ladew Topiary Gardens in Monkton, MD, just a few miles from my home.  I was attracted to the beautiful light on the arch, and almost titled the painting "August, Three O'Clock."   This is another painting for Harford Plein Air that required me to come back the next day to finish in order to paint in similar light--the gardens close at 4 PM!
